CURRENT, INC. manufactures Carbon Fiber sheets, tubing, rods, and fabricated parts. Our Carbon Fiber is strong yet lightweight, making the material ideal for motorsports, aircraft, and marine equipment.
Fibers are interlocked in an alternating pattern over and under each other. Plain weave fabrics have good stability and are ideally suited for flat panels and minimal contour radius.
Satin weaves are typically available in four, five, or eight harness satin. The satin weaves do not intersect at every tow. Instead the tows will float over several intersections and interlock under one. Satin weaves are easily draped to conform to difficult parts.
Twills are available in 2×2, 3×3, and 4×4 twill weaves. The “twill line,” or diagonal rib, characterizes the weave. Each tow warp end floats over two or more picks. Twills are very pliable and have excellent drape while maintaining stability.
A variation of the plain weaves, the multiple warp ends fill tows of yarn and are woven together while being alternately interlocked over and under each other to make heavy fabrics.
Carbon fiber is selected for its strength to weight ratio, dimensional stability, and resistance to fatigue. Current, Inc. offers custom layups to match different mechanical and aesthetic needs. Weaves include unidirectional, 3K plain, 3K 2×2 twill, 6K, 12K, and many more. Carbon fiber laminates are made to spec and can be customized for all applications. Phenolic and epoxy resins are available.
These materials are available in sheet form, tube configurations, and custom cut shapes. Tube configurations are convolutely wound up to 12’ in length and come in a wide variety of ID and OD configurations starting from .093” – 9.75”.
