Spacers and Standoffs

Group of Plastic Spacers

CURRENT, INC. Laminated Spacers and threaded Standoffs are made of thermosetting resins (Phenolic, Epoxy, or Melamine), convolutedly wound under high pressure and heat with other appropriate materials, which have proved themselves in a wide variety of contemporary applications. Their insulating properties, resistance to extreme temperatures, and light weight make them particularly are desirable for use in electronic and electrical equipment. Some further benefits include resistance to compression, impact, vibration, corrosion, moisture and the reduction of noise. The material is easy to saw, drill, tap, thread, machine, polish, and punch with ordinary tools.

Although our Standoffs and Spacers are especially suited for use in electrical equipment, there are hundreds of other applications where their properties and characteristics will benefit product design. Not only will they benefit your products, but they could save you money also!

CURRENT INC. manufactures and stocks a wide variety of types and sizes for immediate shipment. We will also custom-fabricate Standoffs and Spacers — or modify stock items — to meet your special requirements. Tight specifications and close tolerances are no problem. Whatever you manufacture or assemble, there’s a Current product that will improve your product and your savings. We’ll always offer you a free quote. Just send us your requirements and/or blueprints. For further information, call (203) 469-1337, fax (203) 467-8435, or e-mail us.

CURRENT, INC. realizes that you may need a shipment quickly, and therefore, we make sure to manufacture and stock a wide variety of sizes and types of our Spacers and Standoffs so they are ready for immediate shipping. If in need of custom fabrication, we are also equipped to modify stock items or customize new orders to meet any of your unique requirements. Even if you need them for close tolerances or tight specs, we can still accommodate.

General Characteristics
of Laminated Tubing

GRADE XX
Suitable for usual electric applications. Good machinability, most particularly with threading qualities. Not as strong mechanically as grade X tubes but more moisture resistant. Made from phenolic resin with absorbent paper.

GRADE XXX
Suitable for high humidity applications. Has minimum cold flow characteristics and good machinability. Made from phenolic resin with absorbent paper.

GRADE C
A strong and tough material intended for applications requiring high impact strength. Easily machined but leaves a rough edge, so not recommended for electrical uses. Made from cotton weighing 4 oz./sq.yd. and phenolic resin.

GRADE LE
Made from a cotton material weighing less than 4 oz./sq.yd. Suitable for electrical applications requiring greater toughness than Grade XX. Better in machining properties and appearance than grade C. Although, not recommended for electrical use over 600 volts.
