G11/FR5
This glass/epoxy laminate offers excellent high-temperature resistance in addition to its superior mechanical and electrical properties. It maintains its strength and insulation performance in both dry and humid conditions, making it suitable for high-temperature environments. The flame resistance is Class II, in accordance with NEMA test method 7.11.
Material Characteristics and Performance
G11/FR5 is produced from woven glass cloth reinforced with a high temperature epoxy resin system. Compared to G 10/FR4, this material offers improved thermal stability and retains its mechanical and dielectric properties at higher operating temperatures. These characteristics make it a preferred choice for components exposed to heat, vibration, and continuous electrical loading.
Current, Inc. offers G11/FR5 in standard sheet sizes of 36″ × 48″ and 48″ × 96″, with cut to size options available. Thicknesses range from 0.005″ to 3.000″, and tubular configurations are available with inside diameters from 0.375″ to 4.000″ and outside diameters from 0.437″ to 5.000″. Sanded surfaces can be provided to support bonding, machining, or secondary finishing.
Fabrication Support for High Temperature Applications
G11/FR5 is commonly machined into insulators, spacers, brackets, structural supports, and electrical components. Current, Inc. provides routing, drilling, turning, and shaping services to deliver parts that meet precise dimensional requirements. Our fabrication team supports prototype quantities and production scale orders, ensuring consistent tolerances and repeatable performance across multiple builds.
Applications Across Multiple Industries
G11/FR5 is used in switchgear, transformer insulation, aerospace components, industrial heating systems, and equipment that operates in elevated temperature environments. Its combination of strength, heat resistance, and electrical stability makes it suitable for assemblies that must maintain performance under thermal stress.
